The only accurate guide to the true value of a player to a club is announced on best and fairest night when the most valuable player is recognised with the highest individual accolade for the season.
But what if clubs were entirely honest and votes applied to PlayHQ each week were an indication of who have been the shining lights at all 12 WGFNC clubs this season.
We’ve run our probing eyes over the Best Players’ list of all 102 games played in the WGFNC this year to give us a guide to the most valued players at each club.
We’ve given six votes to the best player listed each week, all the way down to one vote for the sixth best player listed.
Kooweerup midfielder Matthew Voss has polled more votes than any player this year, with Demons’ coach Rhys Nisbet and his coaching staff valuing the gun at 62 votes this season.
Voss has been named in the Demons’ best 14 times, and has been named the best player for his club on five occasions this year.
Korumburra-Bena youngster Jay Walker sits second on the list with 58 votes, being in the best players’ list on 13 occasions this year.
Bunyip’s Alex Dijkstra appears to have the Bulldogs best and fairest at his mercy, sitting on 55 votes…24 clear of the next best player in Ben Stewart.
Of course these votes are only a guide and it will be interesting to see how they stack up when best and fairest votes are tallied at the end of the season.
