Members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group showed their tough side on Thursday with 25 bowlers braving freezing conditions at Kooweerup to battle it out for team of the week.

The players all rugged up and tried to stay strong on a very cold day that was made even worse by a very strong breeze.

There was lots of fun and lots of laughter around the green as bowls seemed to have a mind of their own in the windy conditions.

There were a few wrong bias bowls, but these are always welcomed as they continue to fill the Royal Children’s Hospital tin.

The green was in great condition and ran true once the moisture dried up, although the wind tried its best to upset that fact.

Nice to see George in the bar today, we all love to see him when we visit.

Surprisingly, there was only one two-game winner on the day, which meant they were the day’s overall winners on 35 points:

That team consisted of Phil Wright (S), David Talbot (3), Luke Monckton (2) and Max Williams (L).

Runners up on 29 points were Steve Edge (S), Sue Stansfield (3) and Tony Heppleston (L).

Best one game winners on 25 points were Michael Dady (S), Chris Brooks (3) and Shirl Corcoran (L).

A big thank you to Peter, Pauline and John for all the hard work behind the scenes.

Also, thank you to David for setting up the green today, as well as clearing up after the game with help from Luke.

As we always say, we really do appreciate the volunteers who give so much of their time to help out.

Next week we will congregate at Lang Lang…and everyone is welcome.

Please be on site by 10am to allow Peter time to select the teams.

Hoping everyone has a great week till then.
