Vern victorious in the wind at Lang Lang

Lang Lang Bowls Club was the place to be for the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group last Thursday with 28 hearty souls braving freezing and windy conditions to have a few laughs and get a few points on the scoreboard.

As usual there was plenty of laughter around the green as the wind played havoc with many of the players’ bowls and a fair bit of friendly banter around as well.

It is always a pleasure to turn up and play at any, or all, of our Thursday events.

A big thank you to Peter, Pauline and John for all the time and effort they put into the game each week, and also to Marianne and Colin who manned the bar all day.

As usual we have our winners and then we have the rest of us.

The weekly winners on 36 points were Vern Elliott (S), Ken Barnes (3), Kevin Kitchen (2) and Ruth Waring (L).

Runners up on 33 points were John Nicholson (S), Frank D’Unienville (3), Bev Elliott (2) and Shirl Corcoran (L).

Best One Game winners on 27 points were Ken Harding (S), Gillian Harper (3) and Bill Williams (L).

As usual we would like to thank the volunteers from Lang Lang who prepared the clubroom, set up the green and cleared up and cleaned up after the game.

A big call out to Marianne, Bev, Vicki, Colin, Vern, Kevin, Ken and anyone else I may have overlooked.

This week we will be meeting at Corinella, so keep Thursday free and be on site by 10am for a 10:30am start.

Meanwhile, have a great week.
