Floyd wins the fight at Kooweerup

The South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling group came to the Kooweerup Bowling Club last week for a great day of friendly competition and fun.

The day started a little threatening, but turned into perfect weather for bowls with 25 of the family turning up to fight it out to see who would be this weekly champions.

A great day of bowling was had by all with a great atmosphere and plenty of happy banter between all the players.

Once again there was some high-quality bowls played, while the Royal Children’s Hospital tin received a top-up as always courtesy of some wrong-bias bowls being rolled down.

The weekly winners at Kooweerup, on 37 points, were Terry Floyd (S), Frank d’Unienville (3) and Peter Thorley (L).

Only one point behind, on 36 points, was the runner-up team of Michael Dady (S), David Talbot (3) and Shirley Corcoran (L).

Best One-Game winners were Mark Andreatta (S), Michael Saunders (3), Pauline McWilliams (2) and Ruth Waring (L) with 18 points.

A big thank you goes to David Talbot who opened up and prepared for us, as well as looking after the bar.

Also, a big thank you to Luke Monckton who helped out with other duties around the clubhouse.

Our next greatly appreciated venue is Lang Lang Bowls Club.

Please be at the club by 10am on Thursday for a 10.30am start and everyone is welcome.
