Corcoran leads charge at Corinella

With temperature predictions saying Corinella was looking at a 28-degree day, 30 of the South West Gippsland Mid-Week family of bowlers turned up for our weekly challenge.

The day started off well with everyone having fun and, as usual, quite a bit of laughter and friendly banter was heard around the greens.

As the day went on the temperature rose a little above the predicted maximum – reaching 35 degrees, and this cut the second game down from 12 to 10 ends.

But the heat could not stop the bowlers from having a great day.

We all listened keenly as Phil let us know how Sue was following her fall.

We wish her well with her recovery over the next few months.

Jan, Bill and Allan all dropped in to have a look at the game and say hello.

The big winners at Corinella, on 36 points, were Peter Gratton (S), Laurie Bell (3), Phil Wright (2) and Shirley Corcoran (L).

Runners up on 33 points were John Nicholson (S), Luke Monckton (3) and Ruth Waring (L).

Best One-Game winners on 23 points were Mark Andreatta (S), Ken Barnes (3), Pauline McWilliams (2) and Cheryl Floyd (L).

A big thank you to Terry for setting up the green as well as looking after the bar.

Also a big thank you to Cheryl for looking after the kitchen and clearing up when we were all leaving.

As always, thank you to Peter and Pauline for all their hard work behind the scenes and also on site each week.

Next week we will be at San Remo and we look forward to another great day with all our friends…hopefully a couple of degrees cooler than this week.

We look forward to seeing everyone there at 10am.
