Nicholson knocks out a victory

South West Gippsland Mid-Week bowlers descended upon the Kooweerup Bowls Club last week with 27 players looking to put their name in lights as members of the winning team.

Despite plenty of smiles around the green, and everyone having fun, the weather was always going to be a challenge for the bowlers.

It started off fairly cool on 14 degrees, with a few gusts of wind, but soon warmed up and the wind built up to what became a great day for bowls.

Many great bowls were played, but there could only be one winner and that title belonged to John Nicholson (S), Frank d’Unienville (3) and Bill Williams (L) who scored 36 points to take out the victory.

Runners up on 34 points were Tony Heppleston (S), Robyn Dahl (3) and George Crynes (L), while the Best One Game winners, on 23 points, were Vern Elliott (S), Sue Stansfield (3) and Tony Morris (L).

Many thanks to George behind the bar, David who set up the greens and David, Luke and Laurie for tidying up after everyone had left for the day.

Also thank you once again to Peter, Pauline and John for all their work getting the game together and the teams sorted and out to the greens.

This week we will be at Lang Lang to once again challenge for the week’s best teams.

We look forward to seeing everyone there at 10am for a 10.30am start.
