Varty fires ace at Lang Lang

LANG LANG GOLF

Steve Varty provided the golfing highlight at Lang Lang Golf Club last week with a hole-in-one on the par-three fifth hole.

The sun has been shining aplenty this week and the club has continued to be a popular place to be with some large fields and some fantastic scores despite some very hot days.

There are a few upcoming events to keep in mind, the next closest ones being the Social Night with $250 cash prize shoot-out on Friday 27 January, and the Mixed Foursomes Board event on Sunday 5 February.

The Social Night is filling up quickly due to its popularity last time so don’t hesitate to book your spot.

Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members and includes an 8-hole Ambrose event, dinner, live music and many more novelty prizes on offer.

Everyone is welcome and bookings can be made through the Clubhouse.

Results for the week are as follows:

• Tuesday Stableford

• Saturday Par

A field of 132 competitors played in the very warm mid-thirties conditions on Saturday, with the breeze a welcome relief when it came.

The cold drinks being served in the nice cool clubrooms were enjoyed by many players after their rounds.

A Grade: Winner Grant Close +8, runner up Gary Oswald +5, third Ralph Hendrich +4.

B Grade: Winner Cheryl Stockdale +8, runner up Kevin Cresp +6, third Peter Gajanovic +5.

C Grade: Winner Jodie Mays +5, runner up Julian Manning +3, third Kevin Curtis +3 (countback).

Congratulations to all winners during the week and a big congratulations goes to Steve Varty for a hole-in-one on the 5th hole on Thursday, a very exciting achievement.
