Lang Lang rolls out the welcome mat

Players in the South West Gippsland Mid-Week Bowls Group were greeted with beautiful conditions in their most recent outing at Lang Lang Bowls Club last week.

The day before was quite cold and miserable, but the sun poked through on game day to provide some enjoyable sun on the back for the players.

A total of 23 bowlers turned out for the day – a good number considering the poor weather heading in – with the fight on to see who could lift their heads high and take home the win.

It was a hard fought day with only one team winning two games, but the scores certainly don’t reflect the quality of the matches.

The green was in excellent condition and ran very true all day, while Colin from Lang Lang was much appreciated for his help keeping our members hydrated.

Not a lot of wrong bias bowls today but that will no doubt change over the next few weeks.

The winners at Lang Lang, on a score of 33 points, were Michael Dady (S), Tony Heppleston (3), Frank D’Unienville (2) and Peter Taylor (L).

Runners up on a score of 23 were Terry Floyd (S), Luke Monckton (3), Robyn Coulson (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Best one-game winners, also on 23 points, were Phil Wright (S), Robyn Dall (3) and Chris Brooks (L).

Once again, thank you to Peter, Pauline and John for keeping the day’s games on track…they always do such a great job of it.

The group will be playing at Corinella this week so once again if players could be on site at 10am for a 10:30 start that would be greatly appreciated.

Until then, stay safe.
