Top five cast a shadow

The top-five teams used round-12 of the South West Gippsland Dart League (SWGDL) to cast a massive shadow over the remainder of the competition.

The top-half of the ladder scored resounding victories, with the top-four almost locked and loaded with just six rounds remaining in the season.

But all is not lost for teams outside the top four, with the SWGDL executive contemplating the playing of a secondary finals series between teams fifth to eighth on the ladder

That would be a highly-competitive finals series, with only two games separating fourth-placed Wizards from the eighth-placed Rebels.

Those two teams squared off in round 12, with the Wizards scoring a hard-fought 9-6 victory over Rebels.

The other close game of the round was largely unexpected, with third-placed Warriors forced to work hard for a 9-6 victory over Gembrook.

Just Social, Snipers and Paky One all had very impressive 13-2 victories over gallant but outclassed opposition.

Just Social is still undefeated at the top of the table as it looks to defend its summer-season title from earlier this year.

Dean Gibbs from Snipers was once again the biggest gun to fire in round 12, throwing eight tons for the night to skip 21 clear of his nearest pursuer.

The big clash of round 13 sees second-placed Snipers host fourth-placed Paky One.

Spectators are most welcome to attend the Tuesday-night matches in the SWGDL, with games beginning at 7.30pm at the home of darts – the Cardinia Club in Pakenham.
