Melbourne City played old rivals Melbourne Victory in the hotly anticipated Melbourne Derby on Saturday night.
The game lived up to its usual hype with pride the biggest commodity on the line.
Victory struck first blood in the 19th minute through Marco Rojas.
A well timed run cut the City defence in half giving Rojas the time to steer the ball past keeper Thomas Glover.
City was dominated for the rest of the half and should have gone 2-nil down.
City fought back in the 45th minute through Curtis Good who headed home his side’s first.
The goal came after a quick corner caught Victory’s defence off-guard.
The second-half was played predominantly in City’s half with the boys in light blue failing to hammer home the advantage.
The game ending in a two-all draw.
City’s next clash comes against rivals Brisbane Roar, away from home on Wednesday night .
City go into the clash undermanned losing key-striker Jamie McLaren, Nicholas D’Agostino, Matthew Leckie, Connor Metcalfe and young star Marco Tilio all called into the national side.
Australia verse Japan in a must win clash in Sydney on Thursday night.
The Socceroos currently sit outside the top-two for automatic qualification for the World Cup later in the year.
Australia currently sits in third, four points behind Japan, and four points below Saudi Arabia.
Socceroos coach Graham Arnold will miss the clash after contracting Covid-19 during the week.
