Cranbourne west man arrested after assaults in Geelong

Police have charged a Cranbourne West man following an alleged series of assaults in Geelong on Saturday 2 August.

It’s alleged that a man physically assaulted five separate females throughout the Geelong CBD in random attacks.

The incidents took place between 4pm to 5.30pm on Little Malop Street, Malop Street, Gheringhap Street and Rippleside Park, where it’s alleged the man struck the women or threw cans, hitting the victims.

One woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The man initially fled the area but was arrested at Rippleside Park around 5.30pm on Saturday.

The 39-year-old Cranbourne West man has been charged with recklessly causing injury, aggravated assault, unlawful assault, theft, discharging missile and contravening the conduct condition of bail.

He has been remanded to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 7 August.
