Vehicles performing burnouts seized in Cranbourne

An 18-year-old Cranbourne North man and an 18-year-old Corinella man had their vehicles impounded by police after being caught performing burnouts and fishtails in Cranbourne North.

Victoria Police Air Wing were patrolling the vicinity of South Gippsland Highway in Cranbourne North on Tuesday, 8 July, when they spotted a black Holden Commodore sedan and a blue Ford Falcon sedan performing burnouts and fishtails.

They were doing so at each turn they took as they moved through Cranbourne and into Cranbourne West.

The vehicles were observed performing various burnouts and crossing onto the wrong side of the road into oncoming lanes of traffic, before spinning out of control.

Both drivers, holding Probationary 1 licences, were filmed by the Air Wing while ground units from Casey Highway Patrol intercepted them as they continued to perform burnouts at a court in Cranbourne West.

The drivers had not held their licence for 12 months, and will both be summoned to the Frankston Magistrate’s court at a later date.

They were charged with multiple dangerous driving and loss of traction driving offences, with one of the males also charged with drug driving after returning a positive roadside test.

Both the Commodore and the Falcon were impounded by police, where they will be held for the next 30 days, at the cost of $1120.50 to have them eventually released.
