Cranbourne East man among others charged with trafficking drugs

A 21-year-old Cranbourne East man is among two others who are being charged with trafficking drugs after police seized more than $100,000 worth of MDMA and cannabis in Melbourne’s southeast.

The Prahran Divisional Response Unit intercepted a white Mitsubishi ASX Wagon on Kingston Street, Malvern East, as part of a routine vehicle stop, just after 2am on Wednesda,y 2 April.

Police will allege there was a strong smell of cannabis, and during a search of the vehicle, police seized drugs from the vehicle.

Two other people were charged alongside the Cranbourne East suspect: a 22-year-old from Hnchinbrook NSW and a 25-year-old man with no permanent fixed address.

Following the vehicle stop, subsequent search warrants were executed at a hotel room in South Yarra, an apartment in Malvern East, and a home in Cranbourne East.

There, investigators uncovered a traffickable quantity of MDMA with an estimated potential street value of $60,000 and 2kg of cannabis with an estimated potential street value of $40,000, as well as quantities of cocaine, 1,4-Butanediol and cash.

Police also seized almost 30 blocks of magic mushroom chocolate with an unknown value.

All suspects were charged with trafficking and possessing MDMA and cannabis and were bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 5 June.
