The Clyde Township Community Centre has finally opened, announced by the City of Casey on Saturday, 29 March.
Casey’s mayor, Stefan Koomen and Tooradin Ward councillor Jennifer Dizon were joined by State Member for Bass Jordan Curgnale, as well as local community members, to officially open the new centre.
Koomen said that Clyde is “rapidly emerging as one of Casey’s fastest growing suburbs, and this state-of-the-art, integrated community hub will be at the heart of it”.
“It will provide a wide range of services and programs, offering a welcoming and supportive space where residents, young and old, can come together, connect and truly thrive, both now and in the years to come.”
The council’s new partnership approach to the provision of a kindergarten will see Kids First delivering the Clyde Township three-and-four-year-old kindergarten program, with three kinder rooms and an outdoor play space.
Located on Valetta Street in Clyde, the centre is home to a maternal and child health service, with two consulting suites and a private waiting area..
There are also multi-purpose spaces where the community can come together for activities and programs, including Connected Libraries Storytime and Play Matters VIC Sing and Grow music therapy program for children.
A large community room can also be hired for programs, activities and private celebrations.
The council received $4.4 million in funding for the project via the Victorian School Building Authority Building Blocks, Capacity Building Grant stream, contributing $455,000.
On the other hand, $5 million of developer contributions were allocated to the project as under the Clyde Development Constribution Plan.
