Rotary Districts of Victoria Emergency Services Community Awards (Vic RESCA) are asking the Victorian community to help recognise outstanding community service performed by paid and volunteer members of Victoria’s Emergency Service Agencies.

The Victorian Rotary Emergency Services Awards are designed to recognise emergency service personnel who have gone above and beyond their call of duty and reflect the Rotary motto of Service above Self.

Each year Vic RESCA also supports two Emergency Services Foundation (ESF) Research Scholarships for emergency services personnel up to $10,000 per scholarship.

The Vic RESCA awards consist of two levels:

• Finalists – from Victoria Emergency Services (Ambulance Victoria, St. John Ambulance, Fire Rescue Victoria, Forest Fire Management, Life Saving Victoria, Victorian Council of Churches, Triple Zero Victoria, Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Inspector General Emergency Management office, CFA, State Emergency Service, Victoria Police, Red Cross, and Wildlife Victoria)

• Two Major Winners:

o RESCA Vic Officer of the Year serving in a volunteer capacity.

o RESCA Vic Officer of the Year serving in a paid capacity.

The two major winners from each participating state are invited to the National awards event at Government House, Canberra where two National winners will be announced. In 2023 the Victorian winner in the volunteer category, Graham Symons from Omeo CFA won the national award. In 2024 both Victorian winners, Sashi Vagadia (VicPol paid) and Garry Luxford (CFA Volunteer) also won the National awards.
