Clyde Road Upgrade retained

The Clyde Road Upgrade remains on track as it has been confirmed in the 2024-25 State Budget that the $243 million project will proceed as planned.

The project is funded entirely by the Federal Government with a total of $88 million estimated spending in the next financial year. It will not be finished until June 2028.

About $36 million is estimated to have been spent in the 2023-24 financial year.

The upgrade will involve adding additional lanes between the Princes Freeway and Kangan Drive, widening the existing bridge over the Princes Freeway, upgrading the intersection at Kangan Drive, upgrading the freeway intersections to improve access on and off the freeway, building new and upgrading existing shared walking and cycling paths, and installing new street lighting, road signage, drainage, and landscaping.

It aims to improve traffic flow and access to local facilities and streets, make it easier and safer to walk and cycle along Clyde Road, improve liveability in the area through better street lighting and landscaping, and improve safety and reduce the risk of crashes with upgraded intersections and additional lanes.

Early works on the Clyde Road Upgrade began in February, with crews working to relocate and protect essential underground services.

Following the completion of the early utility relocation stage in late 2024, major works will commence at the end of the year.
