Failed attempt to steal cigarettes in Cranbourne North

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a burglary in Cranbourne North last month.

It is understood three male offenders smashed the front window of a shop with a hammer on South Gippsland Highway at about 10.50pm on 27 March.

Police were told the youths gained access into another part of the shop, where one of them attempted to cut the wires covering the front counter.

Another youth attempted to access the cigarette cupboards.

No one was inside the store at the time of the incident.

The smoke security system activated, and the three offenders fled the scene empty-handed.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of three males they believe may be able to assist with their investigations.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with vision or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
