The Western Port Highway and Hall Road’s new signalised intersection was reopened to traffic on Wednesday 20 December at 6am, as part of the Hall Road Upgrade.

Following an eight-week construction blitz, the old roundabout has been replaced with a safer signalised intersection featuring new traffic lights, extra lanes, and pedestrian crossings.

The new Western Port Highway intersection works in conjunction with three previously upgraded intersections on the highway – at Thompsons, Ballarto and Cranbourne-Frankston roads – to allow traffic lights to be sequenced across a six-kilometre stretch of the highway.

This sequencing will ensure traffic can move quickly and more efficiently across this section of the Western Port Highway and allow greater management of peak hour traffic in both directions.

Construction of the new Hall Road eastbound lanes towards Cranbourne is also progressing, with the new lanes set to open in early 2024 and asphalting across the entirety of the project to occur from mid-January to mid-February.

The project is in the final stage of duplicating 3.8km of lanes between McCormicks Road and Western Port Highway and upgrading four key intersections.
