Student VCE results a cause for celebration

Casey Grammar School students are celebrating some of the best VCE results in the school’s 30-year history, with 10 per cent of students attaining an ATAR of 90 and above.

This placed them in the top 10 per cent of students in the State.

In addition, 25 per cent of the students scored an ATAR of 80 or above.

Over half of its Year 12 students placed in the top 30 per cent of students in Victoria, which signified an increase of 10 per cent from last year.

The Dux of Casey Grammar School Saketh Vinukonda achieved an ATAR of 97.5, while Proxime Accessit Jashneel Nand received an ATAR of 97.25.

Saketh joined Casey Grammar School in Year 10 and chose some tough subjects for VCE: Specialist Maths, Maths Methods and General Maths as well as English, Physics and Data Analytics.

He credited staying motivated, a strong work ethic, ‘amazing teachers’ and his parents’ belief in his abilities for helping him to attain a standout ATAR.

“I had two calls from an unknown caller ID on my phone. I thought they were spam calls, but it was Madame Morgan and the principal who told me the news that I am the 2023 Casey Grammar Dux,” he said.

“I feel very honoured and grateful and share that achievement with my family, teachers and friends who believed in me from the start.”

Saketh is planning to do a double degree in Engineering and Computer Science at Monash University with a major in software engineering.

He then wants to complete a master’s degree.

Casey Grammar School principal Fiona Williams said the 2023 VCE results had given the students, their families, and the school plenty of reasons to celebrate.

“The entire Casey Grammar School community is incredibly proud of the Year 12 students and their latest VCE results. They really are a cause for celebration,” Ms Williams said.

“Every parent who has had a child navigate the ups and downs of the VCE years knows how tough that journey can be.

“This cohort of students have risen to every challenge. They have worked hard. They have supported each other. They have asked questions and they have succeeded. Today’s results are a testament to their resilience, curiosity, and determination.”

Ms Williams would like to recognise the many dedicated teachers who have also been part of the VCE journey this year.

“Each year, those teachers do their very best to inspire and encourage every young person in their classroom,” she said.

“They never give up and they never grow tired of nurturing students and sparking their interest and belief in themselves. For that, we are all grateful.

“The school looks forward to watching this latest bunch of VCE achievers go out into the world, put forward the best version of themselves and make a difference.”
