Casey Grammar School has been celebrating its 30 years of education with local MPs, past and present principals, senior school students, and hundreds of guests across the entire term four.
A special ceremony was held at the school’s Performing Arts Centre on 21 November to recognise milestones and look ahead to plans for growth in 2024.
Casey Grammar principal Fiona Williams said the construction of a new Learning Centre would begin next year and would consist of two buildings linked by a grass bridge.
“The buildings will house our new library, exam centre, STEM room, Enrichment and Inclusion classroom and will also contain offices for our deputy principal, counsellors, and psychologists,” she said.
A new school tie was revealed, and plans were also announced to fill and bury a time capsule within the school grounds during the event.
More than 500 people attended the anniversary event, including Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards and Holt MP Cassandra Fernando.
The school’s founding principal Evelyn Sayers also attended, along with former principal Margaret Buttigieg. Two music ensembles have been named after them, which are the Sayers String Ensemble and the Buttigieg Concert Band.
Mrs Sayers reminisced about how the school began with herself and three teachers with one of those original teachers Melissa Roberton, who is still on staff and now the Head of Junior School.
Ms Williams said the celebration recognised Casey Grammar School’s past, present, and future.
“We talked about the establishment of the school and the people who have played a key role,” she said.
“We reflected on the huge growth in our school, and we looked to the future with the launch of our new school tie.
“Another milestone has been the growth in the reputation of Casey Grammar School. It has become a popular choice for families in the area and we intend to build on our success and reputation for the next 30 years.”
