Clyde Tennis Club is set to reopen at the Recreation Reserve after two and a half years of redevelopment of the entire sporting precinct.
Located on corner of Vestfold drive and Eliston Ave, Clyde tennis club now has a larger club room and eight new tennis courts. It is taking in new members and coaching students.
The club previously moved its competition and social play to the Cranbourne Tennis Club during the redevelopment.
A Clyde Tennis Club spokesperson said Cranbourne president Paul Kleverlaan negotiated and allocated courts as was required, and without his and the club’s support, Clyde Tennis club would have been idle for most of the time.
Clyde president Ken Blencowe, who was a founding member and player since 1978 said he was excited about the new complex and what it would offer to members of the Clyde community, with eight flood lit courts and a booking system for both members and non-members.
He has watched the area grow over the years and he understood the need for better facilities to meet the demand.
New club coach Ben Goltz has accepted the position and with over 22 years’ experience, he is ready to offer all ages the chance to learn tennis.
Social tennis on Tuesday nights, and junior and senior weekend competition are available.
The official opening day for the facility is on 21 January 2024 from 10am to 2pm, with court access, coaching, a BBQ and more.
