Police charge 56-year-old Clyde man with drug-related offences

Police charged a Clyde man with drug-related offences during a search warrant on Thursday 28 September.

Police from the VIPER (Visibility, Intelligence, Prevention, Enforcement and Reassurance) Taskforce located a large quantity of drugs, including more than 300 marijuana plants, methamphetamine and heroin, as well as a large amount of illegal tobacco after executing a search warrant at a residential property in Clyde under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act.

Police charged a 56-year-old Clyde man with commercially cultivating cannabis, trafficking commercial cannabis, and possessing methylamphetamine, heroin and prescription medication, who was then remanded to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 8 January 2024.

Police interviewed and released a 47-year-old Clyde woman.

The VIPER Taskforce is a tactical and investigative unit based within Crime Command focused on preventing, detecting, deterring, disrupting, and dismantling the criminal activities of groups such as outlaw motorcycle gangs, organized crime networks, and street gangs.

The taskforce, which commenced in July 2022, supports the work of specialist investigation units and regional police by providing further resources to assist with investigation tactics and enforcement actions.
