The City of Casey is seeking community feedback on a proposed new hub that would bring together several Council and community services in central Cranbourne.
The proposed Cranbourne Hub would be located at 1-3 Lyall Street, near the Cranbourne retail centre.
Under the current concept, the building would house Council’s Cranbourne Customer Service Centre, the Cranbourne Youth Information Centre, and the Cranbourne Library in a purpose-built space.
No decisions have been made yet about other tenants that might be included in the hub.
However, as part of the consultation on this proposal, residents are being asked about Council services currently operating in Cranbourne, barriers to accessing services, as well as the services residents want and need in the Cranbourne area.
The survey will be available on Casey Conversations for four weeks from Tuesday 2 May to Sunday 28 May.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators, Noelene Duff PSM encouraged members of the community, particularly residents in Cranbourne and the southern part of the municipality, to take this opportunity to provide their feedback.
“Council’s services in the southern Casey area are currently located across a range of sites, including in ageing buildings that will require significant investment over the coming years, and rented shopfronts,” Ms Duff said.
“We want to make interacting with Council as easy as possible and an integrated hub would provide an opportunity for Council to house a range of complementary services in one location, in a hub designed to cater for the needs of our local community.
“The Lyall Street location was chosen as it is close to the Cranbourne retail centre, is well-serviced by public transport, and is on land already owned by Council.”
This project is part of the Cranbourne Major Activity Centre Structure Plan 2020 and Council’s broader plans to revitalise Cranbourne’s town centre and to develop the area as a key regional hub that provides diversity of jobs, entertainment, transport, services and spaces that meet the needs of residents and the wider community.
