Police brief: Racing teens suffer suspended licenses

Two probationary drivers have immediately had their driver licences suspended after they were allegedly busted racing at high speeds in Narre Warren South early on Saturday morning, 3 September.

The Police Air Wing was performing routine observations when two vehicles were allegedly detected travelling at excessive speeds on the Monash Freeway in Narre Warren around 1.30am.

The vehicles, a Hyundai Kona and a Ford Falcon, were observed travelling at high speeds on a number of roads, including an alleged speed of approximately 160km/h in an 80km/h zone, police say.

The vehicles were intercepted by police on the ground in Narre Warren South around 1.35am.

One of the vehicles was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1019.

A 19-year-old Narre Warren woman and an 18-year-old Clyde North woman were interviewed by Casey Highway Patrol officers at the scene.

Police say they are expected to be charged on summons with exceed speed, dangerous driving and other traffic related offences.
