Liberal candidate for Holt Ranj Perera has criticised Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards for attending early federal election voting centres in Cranbourne on Monday 9 May.
Ms Richards was at the Cranbourne Home shopping centre with Labor Holt candidate Cassandra Fernando on Monday morning as early voting begun across the country.
Mr Perera it was “beyond belief” for a Labor, State MP to be campaigning for a “federal mate” on a tax payer funded wage, instead of serving her electorate.
“If I was elected I would be serving the people of Holt full time and not handing out liberal leaflets at the polling booth at a state election,” Mr Perera said.
“There are so many problems in Cranbourne that state MP needs to focus on – better roads, working on crime related issues, better hospital facilities, reducing the wait times at hospital emergencies.
“I intend on serving the people of Holt every hour, every day, if elected.”
Ms Richards stood by her actions, telling Star News “I make no apologies for spending time talking to my constituents about the issues that matter to them.”
The Federal Election will be held on Saturday 21 May.
