A drink-driving Lyndhurst man had his car impounded on Wednesday 13 April after being detected driving at 56 kilometres per hour over the speed limit.
Moorabbin Highway Patrol officers were performing routine laser checks on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway when they detected a Toyota Corolla travelling at 156 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometres per hour zone shortly before 1am.
Police intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the 28-year-old driver who did not have a driver’s licence.
He then performed a roadside breath test for alcohol which returned an alleged reading of .126, before also testing positive for illicit drugs in an oral fluid test, police say.
His vehicle was immediately impounded for 30 days with towing costs of $969.80.
Police say it is expected the man will be charged on summons with driving at a speed dangerous, exceeding the speed limit, unlicensed driving, drug driving and drink driving.
