Cranbourne East ‘battler’ wins big

A self-proclaimed Cranbourne East “battler” who’s been working hard his entire life is looking forward to immediately retiring from work after winning $4.8 million in Tuesday 5 April’s Set for Life draw.

The Melburnian held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2434, taking home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

An official from The Lott called the winner on Wednesday morning while he was busy at work, utterly oblivious to his win.

“Woo-hoo! This is the best phone call I’ve ever received,” he happily cried.

“This is fantastic.”

“You’re making me cry so much!

“I’m a blubbering mess, oh my goodness.”

The winning entry was purchased at Hunt Club Lotto at Hunt Club Village, 1S Linsell Boulevard, Cranbourne East.

The winner said he previously thought he would never retire, but was now looking forward to it.

“I can look after my kids, I can pay for their mortgages, that is so, so important to me.

“I’ve barely travelled, too, I’ve never been overseas or even out of the state.

“So, I’d love to take my family on holiday soon.

“The world’s my oyster.

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to work for the rest of the day.”

Hunt Club Lotto owner Rommy Sia said he was also celebrating the exciting milestone.

“This is the biggest win we’ve had in this outlet since I took ownership three years ago,” Mr Sia said

“We’d been waiting for a major win, and now we’ve had one, and we’re so happy.

“Hopefully, we have some more big wins now. We’d love to be on a division one winning streak!

“I’d love to send my congratulations to the winner, we’re so happy for you!”

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2434 on Tuesday 5 April 2022 were 31, 21, 20, 9, 33, 19 and 35, while the supplementary numbers were 36 and 22.

Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2434 – one from Victoria.

This marks the 97th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the 6th Set for Life division one winner so far this calendar year.
