Lions lend a paw

The Lions Club of Lyndhurst and District has joined the fundraising effort to raise money for the flood recovery in Lismore and surrounds in Northern New South Wales.

The Australian Lions Foundation is collecting funds through clubs around the country and will in turn distribute grants to the flood effected communities in need.

The funding will support the communities after the flooding and water has subsided, with members particularly focused on re-establishing community resources where funding has not been allocated yet by local government or councils, such as playgrounds and picnic areas, along with helping individuals to repair fences and supply food.

The club is no stranger to lending a hand in times of need, having previously raised funds or provided for the food parcels distributed by Cranbourne St Vincent De Paul, for NSW and Victorian bushfire relief, medical equipment to country hospitals in Sri Lanka and Covid-19 PCR Test funding Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

The Lions Club in Lismore was the first to be established in Australia back in 1947.

Members of the community do not need to be a Lions member to apply for a grant or receive funding.
