Hallam Station will be closed for nearly two months between March and May as part of the removal of the level crossing at Hallam Road and construction of the new Hallam station.
The station will close from 9pm Wednesday 9 March to last service Sunday 1 May while Level Crossing Removal Project staff undertake a construction blitz.
The existing train line and boomgates will be removed, station infrastructure such as buildings, lifts, staircases will be built, and new overhead lines, track drainage and signals will be installed during the blitz.
Hallam road will be closed at the level crossing from Wednesday 9 March to Saturday 2 April, and all Public Transport Victoria bus stops between the Princes Highway and Pound Road will close during this period.
A pedestrian shuttle bus will be available to transport passengers to the closest available bus stop on either side of the level crossing.
Busses will replace trains from 9pm Wednesday 9 March to last service Monday 21 March between Dandenong and Pakenham stations, before trains begin running express through Hallam station from Tuesday 22 March to last service Sunday 1 May.
A shuttle bus will operate between Dandenong and Narre Warren stations during this time.
The North West section of the carpark at Hallam Station will be open and accessible to commuters via the Star Crescent entrance from Wednesday 9 March, however the North East section will close for upgrade works from Wednesday 9 March until station opening in early May.
Additional commuter parking will continue to be available behind the businesses at 84 Hallam Road, Level Crossing Removal Project Staff said.
