Update: vandalism blamed for disruptions

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) has cited “vandalism of equipment” for the partial suspension of the Cranbourne and Pakenham train lines this morning (1 March).

Buses are replacing trains between Dandenong and Caulfield station, the Department of Transport stated.

“Passengers are experiencing significant delays and are urged to allow plenty of extra time.”

PTV advised commuters to add an extra 35 minutes to their journey.

“It is not known at this stage when normal services will resume.

“The VicRoads signals team is continuing to monitor road conditions and is adjusting traffic lights to minimise congestion and assist with bus movements.

“V/Line services on Gippsland Lines including Bairnsdale & Traralgon are also impacted, with coaches replacing services from Southern Cross Station.

“We encourage passengers travelling on this line today to plan ahead, allow extra time for your journey, and consider alternative travel plans, such as altering your departure time, or using a different mode of public transport.

“We sincerely apologise for the disruption and thank passengers for their patience.”
