A 46-year-old Cranbourne North man has had an expensive night out after being caught riding a distracting electronic scooter in Cranbourne on Friday 18 January.

Police observed the man’s scooter was flashing multi-coloured lights, which impacted other road users’ vision.

Once the rider observed police, he threw his beer onto the side of the road before being intercepted around 1.15am.

Police checks revealed the rider had a cancelled license, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.073 and his scooter was unregistered.

The scooter was immediately impounded by police at a cost of $1,038, which is more than the value of the scooter.

The Cranbourne North man is expected to be charged on summons.
