Three arrested after violent Cranbourne assault

Southern Metropolitan Crime Team detectives have arrested three males in relation to a serious assault that occurred in Cranbourne earlier this year.

Investigators allege a 21-year-old male was parked outside a venue in Stawell Street Cranbourne, when a group of approximately 20 males approached him on Friday 7 January at about 1.40am.

It is alleged the group assaulted the driver and drove away in the stolen 2012 Mercedes Sedan.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle remains outstanding and inquiries are on-going.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the silver 2012 Mercedes Sedan with the number plates ADG013 to contact their local police station.

Police executed two search warrants at residential addresses in Cranbourne and Hampton Park however the suspects were not present.

Police contacted the suspects and a further two males self-presented to the Dandenong Police Station.

A 16-year-old Cranbourne East boy has been arrested and charged with aggravated carjacking, armed robbery, violent disorder, affray, intentionally causing injury, unlawful assault, theft of motor vehicle, assault in company, two counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail, handling stolen goods.

He has been remanded to appear before court at a later date.

An 18-year-old Hampton Park male has been arrested and charged with aggravated carjacking, armed robbery, violent disorder, affray, intentionally causing injury, unlawful assault, theft of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon, assault in company, assault by kicking, possession of a controlled weapon, possession of cannabis, possession of counterfeit money, committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He has been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court for a filing hearing later today (19 January).

Police executed a search warrant at a residential address in Frankston on 18 January, arresting an 18-year-old Frankston male.

He has been charged with aggravated carjacking, armed robbery, violent disorder, intentionally cause injury, theft of a motor car and assault.

He has been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 10 May 2022.

Detective senior sergeant David Cox said Victoria Police will not stand for “thuggish attacks” on members of the community.

“The repercussions for victims of serious violent assaults will often go well beyond physical injuries, as we know mental scars can be equally as damaging,” Snr Sgt Cox said.

“We will use every resource available to gather intelligence and bring offenders before the courts and hold them to account, helping victims find some closure.

“We will continue to work around the clock to put a stop to violent offending and hold people to account for their actions.”
