Better facilities are on their way for students at Clyde Creek Primary School with the appointment of a builder for the school’s new specialist campus which will provide 50 places for primary-aged students with an intellectual disability.

State Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale announced on Friday 24 December that Commercial Industrial Construction Group (CICG) has been appointed to build the new specialist campus at Clyde Creek.

Ms Crugnale said the campus would provide children in the area with a dedicated facility to nurture their development.

“Clyde Creek families are a step closer to getting the great local specialist school facility their kids need to thrive,” she said.

“It is yet another great example of the school building boom that is happening right across Victoria.”

Clyde Creek Primary School principal Jodi Bray will also lead this campus.

A full enrolment policy providing detailed entry eligibility criteria for the specialist campus will be released in term three of 2022.

The school shared in the $122.4 million allocated for new schools in the 2020–21 State Budget.

The State Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1400 school upgrades, supporting over 5000 construction jobs.

Under the state government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will opened by 2026.

Minister for Education James Merlino said the boom would aim to ensure Victorian children started their education journey on the right foot.

“We’re making sure that our schools have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and that every child is given every chance to succeed,” Mr Merlino said.
