Sever storm warning for City of Casey

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the City of Casey, Frankston City Council and the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

The warning was issued at 2:52 pm on Wednesday, 1 December.

Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are predicted.

Locals are reminded to be aware of potential hazards caused by trees down, high tides, debris and building damage.

To be prepared, people should park cars undercover and away from trees, stay inside if conditions appear dangerous and contact family members and neighbours to ensure they are aware of the situation.

If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low lying areas and floodwater.

Be aware of road hazards such as mud, debris and damaged roads or bridges.

For road closure information, check the VicTraffic website or call VicRoads (13 11 70).

Phone Triple Zero (000) for life threatening emergencies and the SES on 132 500 for severe weather related emergency assistance.

Residents should listen to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings to stay informed or visit emergency.vic.gov.au
