A 34-year-old man has been charged for evading police in a stolen vehicle in Melbourne’s south-east.

Police attempted to intercept a white Toyota Camry at 2.50am on Monday 25 October, but the driver failed to stop before driving at alleged speeds of over 120km/h on the wrong side of the road.

Police monitored the vehicle from the air before the driver entered an underground carpark at Frankston Shopping Centre.

Police said they observed the vehicle exiting the shopping centre and intercepted the car at the intersection of Karingal Drive and Derna Crescent.

The man, who was on bail at the time, has been charged with a number of offences including theft of a motor vehicle, obtaining property by deception, driving in a dangerous manner while being pursued and evading police.

He will appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court today.
