FRV firefighters made quick work of a car fire which erupted in Cranbourne West.

The crew from Cranbourne Fire Station were called to the incident on Hall Road and Dandenong-Hastings Road just after 11.30am on Thursday 2 September.

Firefighters from Cranbourne arrived on scene within six minutes and quickly extinguished the flames, bringing the incident under control by 11.47am.

Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria paramedics and CFA also responded to the incident.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

“Car fires can escalate rapidly and become extremely dangerous,” explained FRV Southern District 2 Commander Paul Summons.

“There is always a risk that the car can quickly become fully engulfed, endangering the occupants and members of the public.

“This incident on a busy public road could have been far more serious if it were not for the quick actions of firefighters.”
