Lockdown has been extended, but it’s not all doom and gloom – because Casey Cardinia Libraries is continuing its click and collect and delivery options to get you through!
Wile away the hours at home with a good book, either delivered to your door or collected, Covid-safe, from your closest library.
The program is easy-peasy according to Cranbourne North customer Maggie.
She discovered the options through the Casey Cranbourne Book Club on Facebook, and said it had been “fantastic”.
“It’s the simplest process ever,” she said.
“Just go on their normal site, search the catalogue for the book you want and say either ‘deliver it to me’ or click and collect.”
She said customers also have the option of choosing a mystery box of unknown books to try, picked by library staff.
Over her time using the service she has discovered some new favourite authors and gotten through over 100 items from the library, including DVDs.
“I go through books really fast,” she said, adding she wanted to give the staff a “challenge” to keep up.
She recommended the library’s click and collect and delivery options to anyone looking for a hobby to keep them occupied over lockdown and beyond
“In lockdown you can’t go anywhere or do anything, so you may as well escape in a book,” she said.
Chris Buckingham, CEO of Casey Cardinia Libraries, said feedback from customers about the two programs had been “overwhelming”.
“They really appreciate ongoing free access to books and other library items, but what also comes through is how much they value the sense of connection with their local library,” he said.
