Another winning rhythm for Kerrigan

Berwick singer-songwriter Kerrigan La-Brooy has picked up another country music gong.

Mr La-Brooy, also the pastor and founder of Gethsemane Church and Charity in Cranbourne, was announced as the winner of the country category of the 5th annual LDM Music Awards, which were held in New York City on Sunday 1 August.

The winning song was an original penned by Mr La-Brooy entitled ‘Together Tonight’.

Mr La-Brooy watched the announcement from his home and sent in a video acceptance speech.

Speaking to Star News, he said the win was totally unexpected, even despite his previous awards successes.

The accomplished singer-songwriter has picked up a swag of awards for his music over the years.

When writing his songs, Mr La-Brooy said he drew inspiration from experiences, family, friends, and the community, setting feelings to melody.

Next up are the Red Carpet Awards, in which he is nominated in 17 categories.

Mr L-Brooy’s daughter Tempest is also nominated in a category in these awards, following in her father’s footsteps.

The church’s television show, Gethsemane TV, is nominated for an Antenna Award in September.

Also later this year, Mr La-Brooy will see if he can pick up an award in any of his four nominated categories in the International Songwriters Competition.

His wife Michelle said she “couldn’t be more proud” of her husband’s success.

“This is very much the first time I’ve walked the journey of his career and it’s amazing,” she said.

But Mr La-Brooy said couldn’t have done it without her.

“Behind every great man is an even greater woman,” he said.
