Libraries open for lockdown sanity

Casey Cardinia Libraries is looking after all our lockdown hobbies with contact-free, Covid-safe services.

In line with government advice, all of Casey Cardinia Libraries’ locations – including the Mobile Library – are closed until 11.59pm on Tuesday 27 July.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your literary fill; click and collect is available Monday – Friday, 10am to 4pm, and on Saturdays at most libraries.

There’s no need to book – as soon as you get notification that your items are at your nominated library you can head to the library and collect them. Masks are required.

The Cardinia Mobile Library is also offering click and collect and is running an altered route.

Free home delivery of your library resources is back too.

Online, customers can use the digital library which is open 24/7, where they can download books, kids’ entertainment, stream music and more.

Library@Home contains videos for adults and kids.

Phones at each library are still on with customer service teams ready to help on 1800 577 548, Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm, Saturday 10am – 4pm.

And there is even an app for those who would rather tap their way to library heaven.

Chris Buckingham, CEO of Casey Cardinia Libraries, said there was an even bigger range of eResources available for people who want to keep reading, learning and sharing stories over lockdown.

“It is in our DNA to support the community. No matter what challenges are thrown at us we will be here for people we serve,” he said.

“We definitely miss seeing people in our libraries, but we know that with time, they will be back.”

Staff at Cranbourne Library are busy packing click and collect orders with books and DVDs for borrowers.

They said people had told them the services were keeping them sane over lockdown.

New memberships have also peaked as customers indulge in old and new hobbies.

The library can even continue to serve your printing needs, thanks to an online printing service.

Simply order your print on the website, then pick it up as a click and collect order.
