Officers from Casey Highway Patrol impounded two vehicles and issued a number of infringement notices as part of routine intercepts on Tuesday 29 June.
The first incident occurred after police intercepted a woman driving on the South Gippsland Highway about 10.45pm.
The 35-year-old Hallam woman was found without an interlock device fitted to her vehicle which was a condition of her licence.
As a result of not having the interlock device fitted to her car, her blue Holden was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1038.
She is expected to be charged on summons with failing to have an interlock device fitted.
The second impound occurred after police detected a P2 probationary driver allegedly travelling at 101km/h in a 60km/h speed limit in Hampton Park.
The 19-year-old Hampton Park man was unlicensed, and his vehicle was also impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1038.
He is expected to be charged on summons with unlicensed driving, exceed speed and other traffic related offences.
Just after 1am, officers detected a Holden Commodore sedan travelling at an alleged speed of 125km/h in an 80km/h zone along Princes Highway Narre Warren.
The 18-year-old Narre Warren man, who was a P1 probationary licence holder, received a penalty notice for $702 for exceeding speed and his licence will be suspended for six months.
Sergeant Pat McGavigan from Casey Highway Patrol said the impounds and infringements were a reminder that motorists could be pulled up by any police vehicle at any time.
“People need to remember that having a licence is a privilege and not a right and the liberty you have can be taken away if you chose not to obey the law,” he said.
“This young man only obtained his licence in April and will now have it suspended for longer that he has held it for.
“We sadly go to countless fatalities and serious in injury crashes, every day and night and people need to remember they need to drive to the conditions of the road and also to the conditions of the license they hold.”
