Casey’s Catholic education winners

A former student and several staff members from local Catholic schools were honoured with awards at the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd (DOSCEL) Leadership Dinner on Friday 21 May.

Recent graduate of St Peter’s College, Ashley Beley, was awarded The Elizabeth Hunt Scholarship in recognition of her dedication to her studies and commitment to her faith.

Ms Beley will receive a scholarship of $1500 per year for the four years of her teaching degree at Australian Catholic University.

Ms Beley said that she’s eager to embark on her next learning journey and is thankful for the guidance and support she has received from St Peter’s College and DOSCEL.

“I’m passionate about helping others, and in future, I hope to be able to provide my students with the same sense of belonging, support and acceptance that I felt when I joined the school community at St

Peter’s,” she said.

Principal of St Peter’s College, Chris Black, along with educators Radha Nadan, Jim Constantinou and Margaret Anthony, each received a Service Award in recognition of their 25 years or more of service to Australian Catholic education.

Pauline Whelan, who works at St Thomas the Apostle Primary School and the DOSCEL Secretariat, also received a Service Award.

Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Maria Kirkwood, congratulated the award recipients.

“These awards recognise outstanding commitment to Catholic Education. The award winners reflect the aspirations of our Catholic communities to inspire faith and inspire learning. We are very proud of their

commitment, achievements, and service,” she said.

A further 10 staff members from Catholic schools across the Diocese of Sale also received awards on the night.
