Students at Rivercrest Christian College in Clyde North will soon have access to the future of education, with the sod officially turned on a new STEM learning centre and performing arts centre.
Bass MP Jordan Crugnale visited the school on Friday 14 May to speak to students and find out how the buildings will transform their learning.
Ms Crugnale was given a tour of the campus by student leaders, before symbolically turning the sod on the grounds where the two new learning centres will sit.
Ms Crugnale acknowledged the speedy growth of the school as the reason for the new buildings.
“Because it’s growing so quickly, we need to make sure that the learning spaces are growing too!” she said.
She told students the new centres would offer “spaces where you can conduct science experiments, build robots or learn to play music”.
“By this time next year, we will be standing in front of some very exciting new learning facilities,” she said.
The State Government has provided $5 million towards the construction of the two facilities.
The school will contribute more than $1.5 million.
The school had previously received more than $1.7 million in State Government funding in 2016 for its discovery centre and administration facilities.
