Investigation into High St death continues

The investigation into the death of a 32-year-old man in Cranbourne on Tuesday 27 April remains ongoing.

Victoria Police confirmed they are still investigating the incident, which occurred at around 11.40pm on High Street.

Local police were patrolling the area when they came across the man walking in traffic.

He was asked to leave the road for his own safety but continued walking on the road, becoming aggressive towards police.

Police then attempted to arrest the man, but he appeared to suffer from a medical condition and despite the efforts of officers, paramedics and fire authorities, he died at the scene.

As part of the investigation, body-worn camera footage obtained during the incident has been downloaded and reviewed.

As is standard practice when a person dies in police custody, the incident is being investigated by the Homicide Squad with oversight from Professional Standards Command, and a report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
