Charges following attempted carjacking

Three teenage girls have been charged following an alleged attempted carjacking in Cranbourne.

The trio, all aged 15, were arrested following the incident at a shopping centre on High Street about 3.40pm on Sunday 18 April.

It is alleged they assaulted a 48-year-old Clyde North woman after they attempted to steal the keys to her vehicle.

The victim was bitten during the assault and allegedly threatened with a screwdriver before the trio fled on foot.

Police arrested the teens shortly after the incident.

A Pakenham girl has been charged with attempted aggravated carjacking, armed robbery and assault with intent to rob.

Two girls from Cranbourne East and Melton West have both been charged with attempted aggravated carjacking, armed robbery, assault with intent to rob and commit indictable offence while on bail.

They will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
