Balla Balla Community Centre has held its AGM in what was described as a fun and informative evening.

Manager Maree Cullinan said the evening was different to normal AGMs in that the organisation focuses on creating an event, not a meeting.

Nicole Battle, CEO of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria, attended and gave an “inspiring” speech to the committee.

Angie Pereso, manager of active communities at the City of Casey, also dropped in to chat with attendees about changes in the local area.

Ms Cullinan said Ms Pereso spoke about the state of growth in the Cranbourne, Cranbourne East and Clyde areas – growth that Balla Balla Community Centre may be able to take advantage of through its tailored social and training programs.

There were also videos and singing to keep people entertained, Ms Cullinan said.

The 2020 report was also presented and accepted.

Ms Cullinan said the team behind the Community Centre was feeling prepared for the coming year, especially following the launch of a new website – www.caseyconnectlearn.com.au – which will help residents find courses and activities at their local community house.

She added that while 2020 was challenging for everyone, there is a silver lining with activities resuming at Balla Balla.
