Car slams through fence, teen charged

A teenager has been charged after ploughing an out-of-control car into a fence in Cranbourne West on Saturday afternoon, 3 October.

Emergency services were called to a property at Evans Road about 2.45pm, where they found the allegedly stolen Ford Mustang had come to rest just metres from a home.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by a passer-by who had witnessed the event, before police arrived shortly after and arrested the teen.

Following a search, officers allegedly found illicit drugs in her possession, believed to be ice and cannabis.

The teen was charged with theft, burglary, numerous traffic offences and drug possession, along with breaching the Victorian Chief Health Officer’s directions, and was subsequently remanded in custody.

In a statement on the Eyewatch Casey Police Facebook page, police said the 2016 Mustang had allegedly been stolen from a vehicle rental business in Narre Warren at 2pm on the day of the crash.

Police say the victim was shocked to see the vehicle travelling along Evans Road.

“He watched the vehicle turn into Malfoy Mews where the driver lost control, crashing the Mustang into a residential address causing significant damage to the vehicle and fence,” the statement said.

“Due to the nature of the dangerous driving, it truly had the potential to end very badly.”

Police say neither the driver nor the occupants at the home were injured.

Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters worked alongside CFA firefighters, SES and Victoria Police at the scene.

“A caller to triple-0 reported a car had crashed into a house on Evans Road around 2:45pm,” an FRV spokesperson said.

“Firefighters arrived on scene in nine minutes and worked for ten minutes to make the scene safe.”

Six volunteers from Narre Warren SES helped clear up the debris and temporarily secured a window at the home, which was also smashed in the incident.
