Counter-terrorism police have appealed to the public as they continue investigations into a suspicious fire at a mobile phone tower in Cranbourne West in May.

Emergency services were called to the tower near Parnell Court shortly after 1.30am on Friday, 22 May.

Firefighters from Cranbourne and Frankston fire brigades brought the blaze under control just before 2am before Arson and Explosives investigators attended the scene later that morning and deemed the fire to be suspicious.

Police have released an image of a Holden Commodore sedan that was seen in the area prior to the fire.

The vehicle was driving without headlights on in the vicinity of Parnell Court and police are keen to identify the driver or registered owner of the vehicle.

Images and close-circuit television have been released of the tower fire and vehicle in the hope someone can provide any information that can assist investigators.

Crime and Counter Terrorism Command detectives are continuing to work closely with investigators of the Arson and Explosives Squad.

“Should the investigation reveal that the fire was a deliberate act, it will be treated with the utmost seriousness and the offending viewed as a potential sabotage offence targeting critical infrastructure,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information regarding the fire or vehicle that was sighted in the area is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
