Testing begins at Casey Fields

Around 300 people have flocked to Casey Fields to be tested for Covid-19, in the site’s first day of operation.

The drive-through testing site, managed by Monash Health, opened on Thursday 25 June to high demand with many cars arriving before the site had even opened.

There were delays during the day of up to a couple of hours, however, management on site said the day had gone smoothly and they expect testing levels to increase over the coming days.

It follows the State Government’s designation of the City of Casey as a Covid-19 hotspot, with Hallam singled out as a seat of community transmission.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Thursday a new testing blitz in 10 suburbs, including Hallam, which will see health workers doorknocking houses in hotspot suburbs to invite residents to take a Covid test in a van parked at the end of their street.

At a drive-through test site like the one at Casey Fields, patients don’t need to leave their car to be tested.

Visitors should bring a form of identification, such as their Medicare card, driver’s licence or student ID, and must self-isolate until receiving their results.

The Casey Fields drive-through testing site is open seven days, 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.
