Good Samaritans take down car thief

A would-be car thief has been caught in Devon Meadows thanks to quick-thinking good Samaritans on Monday 5 August.

Police say a man was attempting steal a car parked at a premises on the South Gippsland Highway about 2.45pm.

It’s alleged he attempted to drive off in the vehicle but stopped a short distance away before members of the public intervened and restrained him.

Police and emergency services attended about 3.15pm and the man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries for observation and he is currently assisting.

Police are investigating.
