Maternal Child Health Services will be able to expand in one of Melbourne’s fastest growing suburbs following the opening of an extension to the Marriott Waters Family and Community Centre.

Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards and Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon officially opened the centre on Wednesday 26 June.

The new space will meet a critical need in the area for child and family support services and provide an open space for all ages, to meet, pursue hobbies and join classes. It provides a community room and multipurpose space with community kitchen, an undercover outdoor courtyard, family changeroom, an enhanced foyer and much needed storage.

The over $1.1 million project reinstates a large community room which was converted to accommodate increased demand for kindergarten places and was jointly funded by the state government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and the City of Casey who each provided $590,000 for the project.

“Places like these are vital anchors which help foster community connectedness, reducing social isolation, resulting in greater health and wellbeing outcomes for our residents,” said Councillor Stapledon.
